Dr. Loeffler cooperated with other doctors, cosmeticians, and Prof. Dr. Rainer Müller from Freie Universität Berlin, who has developed methods to improve the absorption of medical and cosmetic ingredients through human organs such as the skin. AgeLine® was the first skin care system to combine these advanced technologies with some of the most effective cosmetic ingredients, in order to achieve better results in anti-aging skin care. In principle, similar to an injection treatment but without the risks or side effects.

Mitochondrial medicine as the base for innovative therapies
The mitochondrial medicine is a modern area of medical science, that explores and influences the basic processes of cell metabolism. Mitochondria are the ´power plants of the cells´ and are responsible for the production of energy and hormones.
The optimal function of the mitochondria is of eminent importance for health, well-being and appearance. In order to optimally delay and mitigate the emergence and intensification of the signs of skin aging, AgeLine® starts scientifically and conceptually at the actual basis of the problem, with a detailed understanding of the fundamental aging processes of our cells from the point of view of mitochondrial medicine. The mitochondria in every organ have the task of supplying the cells with energy.
The AgeLine® formula influences the function of the mitochondria of the skin cells to generate the cell energy ATP (adenosine triphosphate) from carbohydrates, fats and proteins with oxygen and water. The process is also known as the respiratory chain. In addition, the mitochondria play an essential role in the synthesis of important amino acids for the skin, including hydroxyproline, which is essential to produce collagen, and arginine, which is central to the amino acid metabolism. The mitochondria also influence hormone production (steroid hormones, testosterone, estrogen and progesterone) and thus the hormone balance and the youthfulness of the skin. AgeLine® combines cosmetic ingredients of the highest level of effectiveness in order to influence the function of the mitochondria in the skin cells in such a way that skin aging is decelerated, and its symptoms are both delayed and alleviated.
Mitochondria are responsible for the cells’ energy and hormone production. They decide whether a cell, and thus the respective organ such as the skin, is healthy. We have made the knowledge of mitochondrial metabolism applicable to the organ skin by developing methods that improve the function of the mitochondria in the skin cells.

Particle transport technologies
In order to have a medical or cosmetic effect, an ingredient must be sufficiently soluble and capable of dissolving quickly.
Many herbal ingredients have a cosmetic effect but are not sufficiently soluble in their original structure and therefore cannot be used effectively.
